Saint Margaret (1045-1093) was born in Hungary and brought to the court of King Edward the Confessor in 1057. During the Norman Conquest of England her family fled to Scotland where she married King Malcolm III in 1070. The King became a willing partner in Margaret’s many good works. Her special concerns were the welfare of the poor and the education and spiritual needs of the people.
